What is hemp?
For a little bit of background, hemp is defined in US legislation as the cannabis plant (yes, THAT cannabis plant) with one key difference: in short, hemp can’t get you high. Hemp can NOT contain more than 0.3% THC (the compound in the plant most commonly associated with getting a person high), otherwise it is considered Marijuana.
Hemp < 0.3%THC, Marijuana > 0.3%THC
Hemp is legal in the United States
The 2018 Farm Bill explicitly allows the cultivation and transfer of hemp-derived products across state lines for commercial or other purposes. It also puts no restrictions on the sale, transport, or possession of hemp-derived products, so long as those items are produced in a manner consistent with the law. That said, some states have begun to regulate smokable hemp in their region. Please do your research to make sure hemp products are legal in your area before consuming in public.
Virginia Heritage believes in the benefits of full-spectrum hemp flower with all it’s active cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids working in sync to produce the plant’s incredible and satisfying effects. Our sun-grown flower buds are planted in pesticide free soil, slow dried, slow cured and hand-trimmed for almost perfect bud structure.
Smoking hemp is a great alternative to traditional tobacco products! Some people use the feeling of relaxation created by smoking CBD-rich hemp flower to deal with their cravings for nicotine. It also pairs well with a couple of drinks and is best when shared. Smoke responsibly!
Is hemp legal?
Totally. According to the 2018 Farm Bill, it is federally legal to grow, sell and consume hemp-based products in most states (excludes: Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, South Dakota, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia)
Is hemp the same thing as weed?
Kinda. Both plants are from the cannabis genus (remember science class?). The big difference is that hemp contains less than 0.3% THC, the element that causes the “high” in marijuana.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol (CAN-nah-bi-dEYE-ol) and is a component, or cannabinoid, of the cannabis plant.
What are cannabinoids?
They’re all the natural chemicals of the cannabis plant. CBD and THC are the most famous, but there are even more with long, hard-to-pronounce names. Our brains also produce cannabinoids.
Will CBD get me high?
NO. It will not get you high. THC is what gets you high and there is less than 0.3% present in our hemp – which is not enough to create a psychoactive effect.
Where does the hemp come from?
All our hemp is grown in the rich alluvial soils of the Pacific Northwest on small family farms that are no larger than 20 acres. This allows us to cultivate the best possible in order hemp with the least impact to the land .
How do I use your products?
Light up and inhale! Or add to a favorite recipe.
Do you have creams and tinctures?
No, we focus on bringing the highest-quality flower. We are smokable and loose flowers only.
What is the entourage effect?
There are hundreds of chemical compounds in the hemp plant. The “entourage effect” is the theory that these compounds work together in certain ways to create a unique effect. Remove or increase one of the compounds, and the product will have a different effect on the body. Think of it like being alone at home vs. being with your friends. When you’re alone, you might feel quite, peaceful or lonely, but when you hang out with your friends, you might feel more lively and happy. Make sense?
